Students - News & Events
The Tiffin Middle School Power of the Pen Team was well represented at the regional competition last month. On March 13, at Lourdes University, in Sylvania, six Tiffin Middle School students showed off their creative writing skills by competing against writers from twenty-one other schools. Our seventh-grade writers included Mary Kidwell, Kenna Thompson, and Leila Williams. Mary not only placed eighth overall, but also won a “Best of Round” award in round one with her story “Thanksgiving.” Katherine Albright, Ava Hines, and Michael Tucker represented our eighth-grade. Katherine placed fourth overall. Both seventh and eighth-grade teams placed seventh out of the twenty-two schools participating, and Mary and Katherine will be headed to the state competition at the College of Wooster on May 23. Some of our team members served as runners at the competition. These team members were Charlie Noftz, Courtney Miller, Connor Schrenk, Evin Conn, Andellow Losey, Kylie Thom, Lacey Gibson, Angel Smith, Ivy Morlock, and Miranda Fanning. Thank you for their hard work to make the competition run smoothly. Thank you to Mary’s, Kenna’s, and Miranda’s moms for being the “cool” chaperones and watching over our students while Mrs. Helkey and Mrs. Conner were still judging.
The Power of the Pen Team would like to thank everyone who came to the Reineke Ford “Drive 4 UR School” and visited our concession stand. Thank you to Reineke Ford for donating the hotdogs, chips, and drinks. We appreciate everyone's support and donations. Thank you!

Seneca County History Connections
In the spring of 2017, the Seneca County Commissioners called for proposals on how to allocate the county’s funds. Local historian Paul Coffman proposed the Seneca County History Connections project. His project was accepted and is made up of the following parts.
Part 1- Videos
This part of the project benefits all historical groups and museums in the county by videotaping a short program with narration of each of the museums and other points of historical interest. These videos will be put onto DVDs and clips will be posted online for future use by schools and other organizations.
Part 2- Markers & Maps
This part of the project involves locating points of historical interest throughout the county to establish auto and bicycle tours. They will be plotted on a map with GPS coordinates as well as road locations. These maps will be posted online for everyone to enjoy.
In the summer of 2018, Mr. Coffman asked for assistance from the Video Tech Club from Tiffin Middle School. The students along with their advisor, Mrs. Ott and her assistant Mr. Fuhrer, have been vital to this project.
